Photo Gallery: Los Angeles Stands Up For TPS, Immigrants Rights

    Hundreds of people marched and protested in downtown Los Angeles on Saturday against the Jan. 8 decision by the Trump administration to end Temporary Protected Status for just under 200,000 Salvadorans living in the United States.

    Organized by the Central American Resource Center (Carecen) and the National TPS Alliance, the gathering started as a rally near Olvera Street and continued into a march of several hundred protesters along Alameda Street, down Temple Street and around the Federal Building on Los Angeles street, ending with another rally on Aliso Street outside of the federal Metropolitan Detention Center adjacent to the 101 freeway.

    Speakers and a musician rallied the crowd to the response of several inmates at the detention center as well as passing motorists on the 101. Click below for a slide-show from the demonstration ...
