Book of the Year ~ L.A. Son by Roi Choi

la-son-roy-choi

Los Angeles is home to many amazing chefs, and for a big city a surprising number of them are home grown. Some great chefs and great people, to be sure, but none of them really speak to us the way Roy Choi does. On a personal level, we’ve always been proud of being (we think) the first blog to cover the Kogi BBQ truck almost exactly 5 years ago. Here’s what we wrote at the time:

Is there anything more Los Angeles then a Korean BBQ Taco Truck that cruises the streets delivering high quality cuisine to the city’s taco lifestyle hubs? We salute the Kogi truck and hope it is the inspiration for many more…

L.A. Taco Artist Sticker Series #1 ~ Bjorky

image

Every month from now through the end of the year we’ll be releasing a sticker collab with various L.A. artists that we love. First, enjoy the bizarre and colorful character, nicknamed “the Jumper”, created by Bjorky. He has a taco on his t-shirt, and LA TACO is hidden in plain sight on the sticker. If you spot this guy in the wild, take a picture and send (via email, twitter, instagram, etc.) it to us, and we’ll send you an L.A. Taco sticker pack!

L.A. Taco Car Wins Tequila Patrón American Le Mans Series at Long Beach

la_taco_porsche2

Congratulations to Henrique Cisneros and Sean Edwards, drivers of the Momo / NGT / L.A. Taco car which won first place at the ALMS race at Long Beach on 4/20/13. Henrique commented: “Right out the box we were fast – but had some close calls early. Sean did a great job keeping it together to the end.”

The race was going on at the same time as Taco Madness at Grand Park LA, so we weren’t able to be there in person but were getting updates all day from pit row. If you missed the race, you can watch a recap below.

UGLAR WORKS x L.A. TACO Limited Edition T Shirt

LATacoUGLAR shirt_fnl2

UGLAR Works has created artwork around Los Angeles for the better part of the last decade, both as a group and individually. From murals to billboards to books, the crew is always looking to create something interesting and unique for their hometown, the city of Los Angeles.

The latest creation is a limited-edition t-shirt inspired by L.A. Taco and the taco lifestyle of Los Angeles. A re-interpretation of the L.A. Taco logo in a distinctively UGLARWORKS style, this fresh and clean shirt is hand-screened on American Apparel and available in sizes S-XL. It will be available only at the Mural unveiling party in Lincoln Heights this Sunday and limited to 50 pieces. Check it out in action:

DEFER K2S x L.A. TACO Limited Edition T-Shirt

New in the TACO SHOP is this limited-edition t-shirt by OG graffiti writer Defer K2S. As seen above, the “ALL CITY ROLL CALL SHIRT” celebrates the neighborhoods and cities of greater Los Angeles. Done in a lettering style that is unique to Los Angeles, this shirt combines abstraction with reality. Represent your spot, the city of LA, and L.A. Taco in this black and white beauty. Available now in sizes S-XXL.
