Are you a sucker for scenic taco truck art? It’s time to flip a bitch on PCH and see this mural auténtico up close. Notice who’s holding the gun here. Looks like she’s the leader of the band. The scene brings to mind the classic Western movie “Johnny Guitar“.

Super Tacos L.A #1 is seen here at the corner of 1300 N. Ronan Ave on PCH. The lucky day special at Super Tacos L.A #1 is barbacoa. BARBACOA- a good word for practicing one’s spanish accent. Sounds so good to say- but not half as good as it tastes. Even now, the memory makes my glands weep, still confused as to from where the flavor came.

Clearly it’s not the size of the taco, but what you do with it. The fixings table put out by Super Tacos is deluxe. Standing over this fireworks display of salsas, fruits and vegetables, I realize I love tacos- custom made tacos in all their fresh green, red, and purple glory. Heaps of pickled onions, cilantro, cebolla, lime juice and salsa roja mate with the flavor of the barbacoa beef. The tortilla held as I closed my jaws on this Frankenstein. The spicy jolt of sabor delivered to my system caused me to inhale the juiciness totally or risk losing everything. The reward for not gagging on the spicy juice flood is a flavor satiation felt deep into the digestive organs. But chew before swallowing- not because the barbacoa is chewy, but because it has so much flavor to give. The beef shreds easily, releasing a brine like saltiness which works even deeper into your jaws. Mexican barbacoa is a variable style of cooking steeped in history and who knows how many family traditions. Will it ever be the same at Super Tacos L.A #1? Make it your lucky day!
