Exit Through the Gift Shop, Banksy’s film about Mr. Brainwash and the duping of the L.A. art world, has been nominated for an Oscar this year. If you haven’t seen it, you should, it’s a pretty dope mind-fuck about vapid, artist-commissioned work managing to get its grip on millions of dollars, praise, and buttloads of media attention through the endorsement of a still anonymous mega-talent who risks life, limb, and international imprisonment to make real statements. Anyway, this piece recently went up where Mr. Brainwash (or Banksy or whomever) has frequently sported murals of his/their own. The hoodied Oscar, complete with a faux red carpet and not so fake Storm Troopers, seems to blend a bit of the stencil styles and deep and shallow symbolism of both men (respectively) in one piece, furthering the mystery.

There’s a potential new menace in the skies. San Francisco Giants fans, who can hardly believe their luck after they won their first-ever world championship, are collecting money to fly a banner over Dodger Stadium during the Dodgers’ home opening series against the Gnats in early April. The banner will read: “Giants 2010 Champs: BEAT LA”.
People of Los Angeles, we cannot let this potential aggression stand. LA TACO will organize a boycott and shaming campaign of any Los Angeles pilot who takes filthy Frisco funds to denigrate Los Angeles and our 5 championships. Spread the word and we’ll keep the pressure on. Go Dodgers.

Buff Monster has been lighting up walls in LA and worldwide for years, and seems to get bigger every minute. So Buff, what’s your favorite taco?
Siete Mares has really great crunchy shrimp tacos.
Thanks!
