When fashionably late ends up being not so fashionable.
Saturday morning began with a series of phone calls…”Good morning!” ‘What’s up foo, you sleeping?” “Naw just got off the phone with the printers!” “Looks like the stickers will be done just in time for the show!” “Okay call me when they’re ready!”
A few more “Where and when” phonecalls. I had it in my mind that the flyer said 8:00 p.m.!!

Around 6:00 I got the “stickers are ready” phonecall and agreed I would get them at the show. “See you there around 8:00-9:00” “Okay Peas!”

I started eating dinner around 6:30 and answered the phone through most of it. Directly after dinner my lady got started getting ready while I amused myself on the couch with an herbal combination and digital media. The clock ticked away as my lady did god only knows what…”It’s just gonna be a bunch of unwashed artists!’ “What the hell are you doing in there?” “SHUT UP!” came from behind the closed bathroom door! Well I don’t have to get into any more details of the situation on hand…since I’m sure anyone living with a partner of the opposite sex knows all too well how it is to wait while someone gets ready!!
But amazingly as the clock hit 9:00 p.m. and as if there was nothing wrong in the world…out walks the fashion queen…looking great I must say…but what took soo damn long I still will never know!!

Well it was now off to Hollywood to caddy a friend that wanted to go to the show but had “No ride!” This I have to say was painless and he was basically waiting with his jacket on when I pulled up out front. “Think we have time for a little herbal snack?” “Ah what the hell…we’re already late, plus I hate being the first one at art shows!”

After our snack we hit the road (Only try this if you’re a seasoned professional!!)…Olive off the 10 Freeway takes a little know-how…it’s the Grand exit and if you miss it…you’re screwed!! But we hit it right on point…found a parking spot right out front and proceeded in to “Americas Largest Sticker Show”!

Well seeing that it was now 10:30…most everything including the tacos and live music had already happened!! But as we ventured upstairs to the actual gallery part of the show, I was bombarded by art! There was a sticker collage that covered 2 entire walls of the gallery! One whole wall dedicated and filled with canvases from LA’s very own RTH Crew! Tiki-Jay had a nice display of his amazing multicolored stenciled stickers. Damon Robinson and friends had the staircase on lock this year with an amazing collaboration of screened artwork!! Plus every other wall was covered with sticker related artwork from artists around the world.

As we went back downstairs I noticed lots of BudLight and Colt45 cans in hand and was glad I had brought the XX six-pack after all! There were still plenty of people there and we didn’t miss the raffling off of an amazing looking Krylon Can Piñata filled with goodies including a skateboard and t-shirts! (I did miss getting a picture of it though!)

The Hit & Run crew had their mobile silkscreen unit set up and were screening custom shirts live in the dark! ( I got ink on my jacket to prove it!!) Well after drinking our beers and a few herbal snacks, the break down began and we were ushered outside to decide what latenight dining facility would win the choice this night!! Canters it was!!

Hats off to Sticky Rick, Zan E.LA and family, Damon Robinson and friends, and the rest of the people that helped in making this years Peel Here event the best and biggest so far!! Can’t wait for next years…Peel Here 2008!!

Toluca Lake is the scariest spot in town for trick-or-treating because Professional Hollywood Stuntmen entertain, thrill and chill kids of all ages with a LIVE-ACTION SHOWS and Haunted Houses. This years stunt show didn’t happen and no one really knew the answer to this. But the houses in the neighborhood were all decorated and Trick or Treaters came by the car loads. This was my first time for this event, although I’ve heard about it for a few years. I think next year I’ll try Hollywood…but this was a perfect event for Families and Children.
