Catherine Dudley: New Work ~ Nov 11-26th ~ Camino Nuevo High School ~ Los Angeles
2990 West 6th St. ~ Los Angeles, CA 90020 ~ 213-736-5566
I not only love Catherine Dudley’s art, I need it. Perpetually hopped up on Cafe Bustelo, Nelly’s Pimp Juice, and cheap, 50′s-era amphetamines washed down with slugs of Georgi Vodka, it soothes me in a way no other woman’s touch can. Some of you know her killer work illustrating for hometown rockers The Brokedown (now known as The Broken West). In her harmonious collages, she makes order out of chaos and like the best music, there’s always a new detail to discover, though the parts–photos, text, found objects, paintings, hardware–form a stunning whole. The artist will be there this Sunday Nov. 19th from 1-3, and the exhibit is open 1-5.
Her newest work is on show at the newly opened campus of Camino Nuevo High School in Silverlake. Camino Nuevo is a vital, highly praised organization opening charter schools, kindergarten through high school, committed to giving children a serious education with exposure to arts, language, technology, and social justice with sites in or very close to MacArthur Park.
