“Interlaced” ~ Featuring new works and an installation from Ekundayo

Ekundayo was born in Honolulu, Hawaii in 1983 and raised there until the age of five, at which point he left with his father to travel around the United States. After his father passed away in 1994 he found an escape through graffiti and hasn’t looked back or stopped painting since. Among Ekundayo’s many influences are Arthur Rackham, Nicoli Fechin, Toulouse Lautrec, Lucien Freud, Henry Ossawa Tanner, Gustave Klimt, Giovanni Battista Tiepolo, Sergio Toppi and Alan E. Cober; to name just a few. Ekundayo studied Illustration at Art Center College of Art and Design in Pasadena.

Ekundayo’s debut solo show, “Interlaced,” at Thinkspace Gallery deals with the relations between people and how we are all connected in some way, no matter how elite, or oblivious we are to the issues surrounding us. Ekundayo expresses this by creating a sea of interconnected lines amidst a landscape of vibrant colors and surrealistic characters that weave in and out of dream like compositions.

August 10th~ It’s about 9:45pm and a few of my buddies are feeling like this might be another art show, cheap beer, wine and people with their noses up in the air. But arriving at this gallery, I see that it’s packed and everyone that I usally see on the street doing their thing are at this great event and are all having a great time! The art was very urban and the people were as L.A. as it gets! Heads like “DIAL ONE” UNSEEN, SHAB, DOG-BYTE, ZOUEH and various members of the H+R crew were all there to support this great show!

I was amazed to see that there were also some street installations by artists from all around the world! OK, about that beer and wine comment, I take that back, the beer was all imported German beer and everyone was happy to be served as many as they could guzzel down! Thank you again, Think Space, we at TACO look forward to your next event! Last thing i would like to mention, the vibe at this event was great and all positive! Yay for L.A.
