Famous Artwork Destroyed ~ MTA LA River
Immortalized in films, television shows and video games, the massive MTA roller near the first street bridge is no longer. Taxpayer funded workers are in the process of sandblasting and painting over what has been called the world’s largest piece of graffiti.
The artists who created the piece have been arrested, a consequence they understood when undertaking the massive task of hand painting enormous letters under cover of darkness in a public space. The cost of removing the piece has been estimated at just under $4,000,000.

yea it would be a matter of “who cares” if there wasn’t so much money involved. money that could be used to help the homeless who live in the area or CLEAN UP THE GARBAGE. quite frankly our city is not judged by the graf but by how we treat our citizens and the litter on the streets. you can tell me its worth it to spend money on a concrete wasteland.

What I WILL NOT get over is the fact that we spent even a dime to remove it. As you mentioned this piece should be allowed to “eventually get buffed” but not with tax payers money. It’s not an eye sore and I am pretty sure we have more important things to spend the money on. I am not surprised, just sad.
