“A 28-year-old man was shot and killed yesterday, May 31, 2005, after he pointed a gun at a Los Angeles Police Department officer, who was assigned to Metropolitan Division.
Around 3 PM, Officer Ray Nonnora and his partner, noticed Rudolpho Reyes commit several traffic violations while riding a bicycle, south of 24th Street on Budlong Avenue. When the officers attempted to stop Reyes, he dropped his bicycle and ran north on Budlong Avenue.
Officer Nonnora ran after Reyes while the officer’s partner followed in the police car. At the intersection of Budlong Avenue and 24th Street, Reyes pointed a handgun at Officer Nonnora, who fired twice, hitting Reyes both times.
Reyes was taken to California Hospital, where he later died of his wounds.
Witnesses reported seeing Reyes point the gun at Officer Nonnora prior to the shooting. Detectives recovered Reyes’ semi-automatic handgun at the scene. Reyes was a local gang member, who was wanted as a parolee at large by the Department of Corrections.
Neither of the officers nor any bystanders were injured in the incident. Officer Nonnora is 35 years old and has 13 years with LAPD.”
That’s the official LAPD version, as you said. He was also a loving father, husband, brother, son, and friend from what I hear. Innocent minorities are set up and killed sometimes too.
Forever you will always be in my thoughts and heart. You were a special friend and taught me many things about life and how to respect. I Will always Love you.

That’s the official LAPD version anyway, from http://www.lapdonline.org/june_2005/news_view/20102
