From LAX TO NYC and back ~ Aerial photo essay

“Add to this the fact that Los Angeles is spread out over 453 square miles, inclosing within its city limits sheep and cattle ranches, virgin forests and mountain ranges, as well as Hollywood and at least 25 to 30 small towns and you begin to get the idea of what a difficult task it is to build any kind of community feeling! The only fertility of such a soil was the kind on which grew radicals, cultists, utopians and fanatics.” Ralph Hancock, “Fabulous Boulevard.”

Thanks. I just put the camera as close to the window as possible. I LOVE arriving in LA at night by plane especially if I sit next to someone who’s new to LA. I love saying “That’s is, we’ve arrived.” and then 20 minutes later they always say: “I thought you said we’d arrived.” and that’s when I smile and look at the gigantic river of diamonds extending itself for miles and miles all around us.
