L.A. Taco Guide to This Weekend’s FYF Fest
[Ed. Note: this post has been updated to reflect the updated FYF Fest set times]
The Fuck Yeah Fest Fest is this weekend and as usual it promises to be a lot of fun. Our own Chaz Bartok shares his choices for where you should spend your time while fuck yeahing this weekend.
Use this day to get ready because the fest doesn’t start until…
Start with Soft Pack at 1:30pm on the Main St. stage. It’s only Rock n’ Roll but you’ll like it, probably. Next go see John Maus at 2:40 in The Tent. He’s weird, but cool. Go get some drinks and chill out for a bit then hit Cloud Nothings at 4:15, then depending on your personality keep it rocking with Fucked Up or check out Future Islands on the Hill St. stage, but only for a few minutes. That’s because at 6:15 it’s the time on Sprockets when we dance, to the sounds of DJ Harvey. If you’re feeling the vibe, stay, but if not sprint to the Spring St. stage for the Chromatics, who are the perfect sunset band for any evening. You can then choose between James Blake, or if you’ve already seen him go check out Purity Ring who surely must have more than 3 songs by now. After that, unless you’re a big m83 fan (on the main stage at 9:25) I think it’s best to relax before making the hardest decision of the night– the one and only Dam Funk, or Simian Mobile Disco live? Maybe it’s best to see the Disco for 30 minutes, and then make sure to close it down with the one and only Dam.
Assuming there are good after parties and whatnot you will probably sleep late so your best bet for Sunday fun is to start at 2:45 with Wild Nothing. He’ll do Chinatown close to Chinatown, which should count for something. Next up- smoke some bowls and then start the slow day dancing with Tiger & Woods at 4:20 in the tent. Hoof it over to Aesop Rock and Atlas Sound on the Hill St. stage, then back to the tent for Glass Candy at 7p. Stay in the tent for Nicolas Jaar live, Black Dice, and finish it all off with the psychedelic beats of Gold Panda. Fuck Yeah!
