mbw is the real deal. if you don’t know for sure, don’t judge. that’s you being jealous. but, if you’re fine with jealousy, then judge away. the guy is an artist, and his work is original. he been in the art scene for a long time, long before you mainstreamers knew about him. so enjoy his work while its around. its good.

why can’t we let people choose to be who they are. do we have to analyze everything outside of ourselves. this buy did something, he got up off the couch and created something, planned it, paid for it and got it done. picking the meat off the bird is senseless. not much of a fan though… but i didn’t do the effort.

I was told that he damaged, not once, but twice a mural painted by Brail KOG LTS for Ayer. Not only is that insanely disrespectful, but its also a huge indication of what his value’s are.

I spoke with a number of people who worked on the show, and was told he hired artist’s off craigslist to do the work for him – no rendering, no painting – nothing, all the work was made for him and then signed by MBW.

He also painted over a billboard I as well as a few other artists had obtained, splashing paint all over cars underneath and then claiming he never did such a thing when confronted on the subject.

Cant say I am much of a fan.

All of you are jumping on the MBW hating bandwagon. After seeing this comment from “Juan Rodriguez” in multiple places I’m begining to think that “he” either works for the show or is so bitter and closed minded after spending 3 days roaming the show that he felt the need to expose MBW. But after reading the posts from the two people that actually worked for the show( http://www.neublack.com/features/featured-artist-mr-brainwash/ ) Mr. Brainwash needs no exposing. He is a genuine person, and after meeting him one day at his exhibit you can see that he only wants people to be happy. “Juan” has only taken a beautiful thing and made it into the hate that seems to fuel his weekends. I saw pleanty of people that were excited to see the show. To the rest of you, hey if this style of art isn’t for you, thats fine. I’m sure that MBW would wish you well and praise any art that you would produce, because art has no rules.

Juan Rodriguez left this same statement on my blog, so I asked some of the arstists involved in putting the MBW show together to comment. After reading their responses from Derek Walborn and Justin Murphy, Rodriguez’s statement seems weak to say the least. You can check out the responses here-

There always seemed something fishy and needy about his sudden flood of trademarked artwork covering Hollywood boxes, as if it was all gearing up for a big show, which (SURPRISE) it was!

One reason I wrote this post, besides the fact that I actually like the drippy Edith Piaf, is that I’ve consistently seen this “artist” gone over or crossed out by people who are really out there in the defacing biz and here are a few good examples by some favorites. I also skipped the show. I feel the show and the surrounding attention is the city’s graff-art scene on water-skis in a leather jacket catching air over a tub full of great whites.
