Petting Zoo ~ Abbot Kinney Festival

We’re all about the kids, of course. So last Sunday, we mobilized the TACO Army bright and early to assemble the children’s area of the Abbot-Kinney Festival, which raised money for Inside Out Community Arts, a nationally-awarded, local non-profit organization that offers an influential after-school arts curriculum to “at-risk” kids in LAUSD.

We helped one small street off of Abbot Kinney to go country last Sunday, with an amazing menagerie of critters in one space for the little ones. Although the camel had to be separated, the pen was shared by a zebra, two chickens, a potbelly pig, a big-ass tortoise, a pony, a sheep, two pinche little cabrones, and maybe some other characters. Everybody was doing their own time, not causing trouble on the yard, getting along between races, classes, creeds and feeds.

But the real question is….who the fuck is this guy up here? A half-deer, half-pig, half? As a youth, I worked at a Southern Cali Zoo for a good spell, and have seen one, but can’t remember who he is. It is NOT a capybara. Anyone, anyone?
