there's another place on fairfax just south of santa monica, they have all these african plants and it also sort of gets you into that sexy plant mellow state with no smoking necessary. this looks even better. places like these (and the secret gardens people keep behind fences) rule, they are the lungs of LA. let's have garden party or something.

I was lucky enough to accompany Sr.Río Kvisto on his journey to the Rainforest Flora. Being a self proclaimed plant geek, I was totally in awe. I had never seen anything like these plants (except for the typical Bromeliad which is also of the tillandsia familia.) Am I wrong? Also, I think you are only sopossed to submerge them once a month! Overwatering = Death to plants, especially succulents :). I bought several plants on our little field trip, two of which have already blossomed VERY fragrant flowers. Ok, ill stop bragging. Thanks Río Kvisto for the day full of wonderment! Now i'll await an article on the marvelous Watts Towers.

Yeah, I just moved into a new, bigger apartment, and when I recover from the financial damaged incurred by the move, I am going to invest in some of these plants, and some succulents. I am really feeling the succulents. I like having stuff that is all spiky and strange and that not everyone else has. And low maintenance is a definite plus.

Oh my God! I live SO close to this and I've never been in there either. I will definitely have to take my kids for a visit.

Being a brown-thumb person myself, I now have succulents in my planters in the front yard, after attempting to nurture and grow roses, annuals, flowering vines; you name it, it's died under my watch. The succulents are thriving on my neglect. :)
