WHERE is the line drawn between gang banger dirtbag vandalism and "art"? I know that I can look at it and see the "art" behind it. I can to a certian limit, understand it. MANY others cant. What about the gang bangers that were putting up their "art" and shot and killed an old lady in 2007 when she put her car headlights on them and told them to stop?
HOW does the PUBLIC make the difference? Thats what really matters here. As Im sure alot of you know that you have to pick your spots wisely as to where you want to make your ART. You do it on the side of my property, UNINVITED, and Im going to be PISSED and then it becomes VANDALISM. A CRIME.
You guys need to understand this.
ALSO, I like the ART part of it. Do characters, murals, whatever...nobody wants to see your name plastered there. That shit is OLD.

I believe that revok and all the MSK's and the AWR's have made a big impact in graffiti and REVOK is i believe one of the main one as is SABER when he did the L.A river it gave graff writters around the world ideas to take it to the next level and revok is always doing that in every style and every spot he hits so its gonna be wierd without seeing his recent styles....FREE REVOK MSK AWR

Thanks NYSE and everyone else who gave great insight!

I am sorry for REVOK and wish him the very best outcome, if there's anything we can do on our site to support him, please don't hesitate to let us know.

This talented and versatile artist stands up for the whole community and has worked ceaselessly to give graf the legitimacy, acceptance, and evolution that it deserves. REVOK also makes a point never to work on private property or tag up people's shit, he even mentions it in Bombit! That interview should be used to persuade against malicious intent charges.

I feel the real loss here is Los Angeles's. Just like with the taco trucks in East L.A. and immigration enforcement citywide, the people running the show don't understand the culture and bounty of a free Los Angeles. We could have the most beautiful city streets of murals and artwork instead of all that gray and make it an attraction we're known for, drawing tourists and putting our Southern Californian culture more firmly on the map.

Stop outlawing free public street art and find a way to hire and incorporate these artists, cuz graffiti artists are born everyday and the need to create cannot be stopped by cutting art classes or locking up taggers. What kind of effect might this have on illegal artwork?

So many people have shame about this city and thinks it lacks culture, continually outsourcing to New Yorkers like Bernard Kerik and Joe Torre and denying our intrinsic strengths. Our local government again and again makes horrible decisions selling out our schools, transportation, futures, and our health, as E73 points out. I am way more offended by that high-rise being built on Santa Monica Blvd. that blocks the view of the mountains when people are stuck in traffic headed east than I am by graffiti.

I find it stupidly ironic that the same people constantly crowing about how ugly graffiti is gloat when an artist makes beautiful graff art like Revok does. How pitiful that these anti-graffiti extremists can't tell the difference between the art and the shite. And they call us crazy!
