Great poster of an even greater film. One of my all time favorites. 1950’s Hollywood tackling drug addiction with Sinatra cast as Frankie Machine, a man fresh from prison trying to “kick the monkey.” The supporting cast is amazing!!!! Sinatra at the time was releasing one top ten album after another. He was the Chairman of the Board even though that name hadn’t been given to him yet. It’s interesting that in his film careers he wasn’t playing heroes, he was fearless and chose to play very flawed characters, very much on the weak side and even cowardly. My hat to him for that. He was nominated for an award for that film because of the kicking the monkey scene but it’s the audition scene that, to me, is one of the most unnerving scenes to watch. No violence, no blood yet you don’t want to watch. Of course it’s directed by no other than Otto Preminger with the gorgeous red-headed Eleanor Parker playing her killer looks down in black and white and giving a really great performance and a very good Kim Novak too. I can go on and on. I lovvvvvveeeeee that movie.
