Consider asking a seasoned Los Angeles Chicano political artist like Mark Vallen his opinion of Shephard Fairey. Fairey might have gotten nabbed for the wrong action, but he’s been churning out political art, including his “borrowed” Obama Hope image, for personal capital gain. It;s nice to make money. It is nicer to use it to benefit the people rather than horde like a B of A.

Most artists who have achieved that level of fame have morals about that kind of shit.

I like Fairey. But why should some store owner or city have to pay to paint over or remove graffiti and stickers. What’s subversive to him one night is tax payer’s wasted time and money cleaning up the mess tomorrow.

From my perspective in can it is my understanding that the “wheels of justice” will turn as they please. Should the good shepherd put his best foot forward and help the community regain art in a positive light through com service workshops? He is in the spotlight now, use it to be positive and embrace the power of art in life.just a thought, hate to see people get caught up in the jail System “it sucks the life out of you”.
