I have been in the house! One of the filipino owners took my friend and i thru it when we stopped by to look at the house. the interior is not at all like the show, but the house is huge! it has 4 floors including the basement. the attic area was once used as a meeting hall, it can seat like 60 people. on the front porch is a plaque which talks about its historic significance, it was owned by a filipino statesman who aided in getting hawaii into the union, and was very politically active.

Just a note to those who posted above. The house was only used for exterior shots. The interior of the house is gorgeous, however it is very different from the interior of the Fisher home that we all have grown to love. The exterior is very true to life as it is on screen. The coach house, the veranda, the lot itself, was all very much used as it is. The art department did add the Fisher & Sons signage, those structures aren't actually on the property.

Hi there Lloyd, regarding your comments and question above. The wonderful house is the "Auguste Marquis" residence. The full address is The filopino federation of United States of America, 2302 W.25th Street, West Adams, Los Angeles, CA, 90018, USA.
No this house is not a funeral home, it belongs to the filopino federation of USA. It was used by HBO to make Six Feet Under. It would be interesting to see some interior photos though. I may well e-mail or even mail then to ask more about the place. It is a Victorian building hence the typical American fine gable work, far superior to our british standards.

Can someone tell me if this house really is a funeral home at one time or if it still is, or was it just used for the looks of the HBO series. This home is very beautiful. thanks

I adore watching the Six Feet Under series on uk television. What a absolutely gorgeous house on 25th Street. Why can't we have funeral homes like this in the UK? I would love to see the interior of this jewel of a building. The series I found took all the stigma attached to funeral homes away and gave one a little insight as to how funerals are conducted stateside. I wholeheartedly agree with Ron Henderson's comments above , I would dearly love to see more of this beautiful house inside and out. I would love to visit the USA and stop by at this location, but alas my finances do not allow me to make such a trip for quite a while yet. Thanks you for this website I can at least see photo's of the exterior.

What is the name of this style of home. I try to describe it as I shop for a home of my own.
What year was it built? And who built it?

Being a fan of the HBO television series Six Feet Under I've always felt close to the Fisher Family (Fisher & Sons Funeral Home). The old house on 25th street in West Adams Los Angeles brings back many memories for me as I am semi retired from the Funeral Business and once worked in a big old house similar to the beautiful old home used in the show.
As I look through your web site I am a little let down that you haven't taken any pictures of the inside of the house which would (to say the least) be very interesting. Also I would like to take a virtual tour on my computer of the set of Six Feet Under (Fisher & Diaz Funeral Home) just to see how much realistic work went into filming the series.
Thank you for sharing this site with the public, though it needs a little improvement, at best the site is realistic and educational.
Thank you,
