Salinas Moves to Ban Taco Trucks
In yet another misguided broadside against the taco lifestyle, the city of Salinas is considering a proposal to ban all taco trucks within its city limits during the day time. Not only is this decision ridiculous and mean-spirited, it’s also un-America. The San Jose Mercury News probably put it best when they wrote in an editorial this week: Deciding when, where and how to eat tacos is a basic American freedom.
Brooklyn Taco Vendors Squeezed
Across the country, our taco loving brothers and sisters of Brooklyn are also facing off valiantly against anti-taco forces. The Brooklyn Paper reports that Latin American food vendors found out last week that the Parks Department wants to sell their vending permits on the open market — which means that the mom and pop vendors could have to compete with deep-pocketed corporations for space that they made desirable in the first place. Taco Bell instead of authentic birria in the park? We say: NEVER.
Hero Dies Defending Taco Stand
A very sad story out of Houston– local bar owner Resendo Rios died of a gunshot wound to the head after trying to defend a taco stand outside his place of business from armed robbers. The two cowardly murderers fled the scene and have not been caught.

No Tacos

13-year olds have AKS, the school system has collapsed, there is no health care system for all, and homeless citizens are (barely) living unsafely all over the country, fortunately, now that that lil’ menace Paris Hilton has been taken off our streets, the state can focus on other threats like affordable food that benefits those living on next to nothing and the people cooking it. This is just political, a way to keep certain city streets free of minorities and low-income people, much in the same way parking at the 3rd street promenade costs so much, yet it is free to park near the Slauson Swap Meet.
