Bell, Book, and Candle is really not depicting racism and rejection of all-things African. The bohemian lifestyles of the witches and warlocks actually reflects the beat generations largely-gay community living in Manhattans Greenwich Village in the 50s.

I saw and earlier version of this, but it is still interesting the second time around, espeically with the addition of the “e-Bay witch” at the end.
I’ve heard a lot of publicity about “Bewitched”, but so far only this is the only reviewer I’ve seen that noticed any gender stereotype propaganda. And discusses it in such a lively way, too. So this reviewer deserves a wider audience, since apparently the isuues she discusses are so ingrained in our culture that hardly anyone notices them, and instead thinks this stuff is cute fun for the kids “eight and older.”

For $14 million, that play should have rocked WAY harder. It’s called Wicked, but it totally isn’t about Satan. At all. No fire, no electric guitars, no blood. Wicked totally gets the finger. I did kind of want a green girlfriend afterward.

Just down the street from Wicked i witnessed a true witch on stage last night…A witch being an “opiniated independent bitch, in heat and in all of us”.Bjork at the Nokia.
She ended with this:

Great review. I especially love the comparisons with the Kim Novak movie.

Well, you just saved me a couple hundred bucks. In spite of gaggles of fans insisting, “You MUST see this,” I think I’ll give it a miss.
