Update: Giants Fans Complete Their Fundraising, Plan Aerial Banner Over Dodger Stadium
In a story we brought to you earlier this month, jealous Giants fans, chagrined LA’s five championships (compared to their lonely single victory last year) plan to fly a “BEAT LA” banner over Dodger Stadium during the team’s home opener next month.
The schemers have finally raised the $8,000 they need. Most of your comments and emails have said that we ought to just let this go and ignore their silly attempts to rile us up and make themselves feel good about their historically inept, Hallowe’en colored team with one fluke season. Others have said, in the words of the great Walter Sobchak, that this aggression will not stand, man. So what is our next move? Boycott the sign company? Raise money for our own banner? Do nothing? Let us know and we’ll make it happen one way or another. Just like the local news, we’re on your side.

I am from LA and a lifelong Dodgers fan from a whole family of Dodgers fans. I recently moved to SF for a job and love this city but I truly hate the giants. The rivalry has always been in good fun and still is but its harder to let something like this slide when I see/hear the giants fans everyday and they are still smug with self-satisfaction over their championship last season. I am okay with letting this go, but if there is enough of a vote to retaliate, I’m down to pitch in some money for the effort.
