While the issue is probably not settled, the latest in the city’s confusing attempt to regulate Medical Marijuana Dispensaries has arrived at a number: 137. That is the number of clinics they will allow to stay open under their new regulations. LA NOW has more:

Seeking to bring the city’s medical marijuana dispensary boom under tight control, the Los Angeles City Council decided today to cap the total number at 70, but to allow those that originally registered with the city to remain open.

Under the city’s 2007 moratorium on new dispensaries, 186 registered with the city. Officials believe at least 137 of those remain open in their original locations. Under the motion adopted this afternoon, those dispensaries could stay open but could be required to move to comply with the ordinance’s restrictions on where they may locate.

Councilman Jose Huizar proposed a cap to ensure that dispensaries would not be concentrated in any one neighborhood. Currently, with no ordinance in place to control their location, dispensaries have clustered in some neighborhoods, such as Eagle Rock, Hollywood and Woodland Hills, drawn by empty storefronts or by proximity to night life.

Say hello to Snowcap. Hi Snowcap! This is the best sativa strain I ever had, mighty head high but with lots of body energy to spare. I recommend this one before work, school, partying, concerts and anything else that involves being high and active. The most distinguishable trait about Snowcap is its sharp, hypnotizing, bit fruity and grape scent. You will be tempted to smell the buds over and over. If you are on the look out for good sativa, this is your best choice. I picked this one up from Eden Collective at 6742 Van Nuys Blvd Suite #203.

I’m a sucker for good names. This mouth-wateringly titled Indica Dominant smells like garlic, grapefruit, earth musk, and rubber, with just a whiff of banana to make the meds go down. This dark and light green beauty is covered with long crystals, random purple underleaves, and kinky orange hairs.  Not only does it taste really good but…druuuuuumrrrrroll please…it gets you heavy-ass high! Blarrrg…

Black Rhino Kush, as much as I can I guess, is a delicate blend of the herbs and spices Blackberry, OG Kush, and White Rhino, all delicious and powerful multi-hybrid strains themselves. That’s just a guess though from sampling the herb and its name, though OG actually never comes up. I can’t find any mention of this strain anywhere, it is a rarity.

This bud has a strong chocolate leather OG smell, with tones of dark fruit, citrus, grass, and black pepper. The berry smell is noticeable and makes for a very pleasant ingredient.  The name is kind of accurate as the buds, coming in clumpy nuggets of white THC-covered dark green and long hairs of such a dark red that they are nearly black, are also resilient and tough looking, but with fragile proportions, like a rare, endangered, beautiful Black Rhino. Whoa…

The effects are there too, felt in both body and head quite strongly. A big puff gives a powerful blast of tingles to the head which spread down the arms and eventually rest through the legs into your feet. Great medication for pain I feel. I went surfing after a huge doob of this stuff, and ended up ditching my longboard and just floating a while, the water feeling like liquid ecstasy as it washed over the cocoon of my wetsuit and I stared at the clouds. Freaky indeed, but it felt good. I don’t seem to crash early on this herb either, it kept me active while maintaing its strong stone on me all day. Funny thing too, this Encino Man bought this at a medical collective in Mar Vista on 4:20. Yes, my new favorite co-op is in L.A.!
