Milagro Tequila Ambassador Jaime Salas On Fine Anejos and Sado-Masochistic “Chilly Willys”

Tonight marks the 200th anniversary of “El Grito” and tomorrow’s Mexican Independence Day. To celebrate, TACO took Milagro Tequila up on its offer to lend us San Francisco-raised Jaime Salas, tequila mixologist, collector of over 300 bottles, and the ambassador for Milagro, to ask him what has lead to the recent surge in the spirit’s popularity, how to best enjoy the good stuff with and without food, and which misconceptions still linger about tequila. Along the way, Salas uncovers the disturbing trend of the Steve-O-inspired “Chilly Willy pokes a few holes in how tequila gets marketed, and humors us about any rumored “health benefits” of the agave-distilled liquor. Enjoy our Q&A with Salas and a recipe for what he calls “the world’s freshest margarita” to get the party started. (Continued)

Malabomba! 1-Year Anniversary Cabaret ~ Tonight Bordello Bar

Yes, MALABOMBA!, L.A.’s ONLY Gypsy-spiced International Dance Party returns with a fury on Thursday, May 20th, with the MALABOMBA! 1 YEAR ANNIVERSARY CABARET! And, yes, like most one-year-olds, we will be doing our best to keep you from sleeping.

Over several dizzying bouts of exotic foods, intoxicating beverages, and sleepless nights, your hosts and devoted BOMBAderos Roderick and Jason devised a night of celebration that would properly capture the exhilarating spirit of the past 12 months of MALABOMBA! In gratitude, we simply wanted to giveback to you as much as you have given us over the past year. So we reckoned the best way to celebrate was to load up the caravan and give you everything we’ve got; packing in as much live musical madness, free CD giveaways, and dance floor debauchery at you as you can possibly take in one night.

Live music, DJ’s and of course, dancing!  Fuck borders, let’s dance!

Los Angeles ~ Sino Tequila ~ A New Perspective

Sino Tequila was present at the Juxtapoz Anniversary Event a few weeks back providing product samples to those in attendance. After the event I contacted Sino Tequila’s owner and president Judy Rivera  for a rundown of the brand and its idealogy. Judy was kind enough to break it down for LA Taco. Here are the key elements of the brand.

CREATING A HIGH QUALITY TEQUILA-

Sino 100% blue agave tequilas are born  from the red earth of the
highlands in Jalisco, Mexico but live and breath on the streets of
your neighborhood. Sino  passionately produces  artesanal  tequilas of
unparalleled quality, proudly steeped  in the tradition of  Mexico
using Mexico’s only 100% Latina owned and run distllery.

TRUE STREET CULTURE MARKETING -

Sino Tequila is also dedicated to aligning itself with true street
culture artists that push the envelope of creativity in everything
they do.
With the help of SA Studios and artists such as Patrick Martinez the

It is Sino Tequila’s extreme honor to partner with Latino Arts Network
to help their mission to promote and strengthen the Latino arts
community and cultural well-being of the artists they serve. For over
