An Entire House in East L.A. is Graffitied in Dodger Blue for the World Series

11:50 AM PDT on October 27, 2020

[dropcap size=big]H[/dropcap]ector “TETRIS” Arias, a graffiti artist born in Ixtlan, Michoacán, and raised in southeast Los Angeles, hopes that the third time is the charm when it comes to his famous “Dodger House.” It has become somewhat of an annual tradition for him and his graff crew, WAI (Wisdom and Imagination), along with other graff writers that he’s invited over the years.

“Dodgers are a culture,” he tells L.A. Taco. “I grew up watching Fernando Valenzuela when I moved to the U.S. and have always supported them, along with the Lakers and L.A. Galaxy.”

This is the third “Dodger’d out” house that TETRIS organizes. This home, along with the past two, is provided by Altamira Realty. The realty group also provides the paint. The houses are tear-downs that briefly get a second life as live art installations. The first home was in South Central, the second one in West L.A., and this one in East Los Angeles on the corner of Rowan Ave and 3rd Street. Altamira and TETRIS are also responsible for the famous Lakers house.

On Monday at dusk, there were spectators of all ages walking and driving by. Some would stop and take a photo as the artists finished up their work—all united by the Dodgers.

TETRIS tells L.A. Taco that he waited a little longer this year to get started on the house; since last Sunday to be exact. ‘In 2017, we didn’t get the win. In 2018, the same thing, but this time we are putting in a little more effort,” he says. This year’s artists are PLEK, DOOM, DILLINGER, FARM, CHEE, DEITY, THUNDER, ATLAS, RESE, BIG E, SENSAE, OLDIE, and CULTIVARTE.

“I’m really blessed to work together with a lot of great artists and support our local team,” TETRIS tells L.A. Taco. He expects the house will be up for at least three months.

The Dodger House is located on Rowan Avenue and 3rd Street.

A special thanks to Julio Trejo for being the first to let L.A. Taco know about this Dodger House.

The month-old strip mall taquería in Anaheim make all their flour tortillas from scratch using both lard and butter, resulting in an extremely tender vehicle for their juicy guisados like carne en su jugo, carne deshebrada, chile colorado, chile relleno, and chicharrón. Every tortilla is cooked to order, too.
