Smorgasburg L.A. Record Fair

You may know Smorgasburg L.A. as downtown’s Sunday market full of food, shopping and drinks, but this Sunday you can come out to dig too.

The market, which is a successor to Brooklyn’s Smorgasburg in New York, is partnering with Beat Swap Meet, a record fair that happens a few times a year in L.A., to bring an open-air crate digging experience on the third Sunday of every month. Smorgasburg general manager, Zach Brooks told L.A. Taco that they’ve had record fairs at their Brooklyn market and have been wanting to bring the experience to L.A.

“It took us a while,” Brooks said. “We’ve been working on it forever, but we finally found the perfect partner and we’re excited for the first one.”

Beat Swap Meet helped curate vendors that together will be selling over 10,000 vintage records, including blues, classic rock, disco, funk, hip-hop, jazz, metal, punk, soul and more. The market will also have CD, cassettes, vintage tees, and plenty of food.

“There was a time where you could find an old-school record swap pretty much anywhere in L.A. on any weekend and we know a lot of people who sort of miss that,” said Brooks.  "There’s not a regular like sort of monthly record swap that happens anymore and we’re kind of hoping to bring that back with Beat Swap Meet.”
