El Taco Nazo / Senor Baja ~ Pomona

Señor Baja ~ 320 E. Foothill Blvd. Pomona, CA 91766 ~ (909) 593-9926 (TACO GUIDE)
Señor Baja, formerly El Taco Nazo, is a fish taco house off the main drag of Foothill Blvd. in Pomona. Taco frontiersman Snr. E. Nord took me here 10 years ago. Across the street where a chain restaurant now stands I remember a long panoramic mural of the Mojave desert spiked with century plants. Now another ode to the wrecking ball. This is Route 66, a bustling strip of Foothill Blvd. streaked with vintage signage, crumbling spreads of weeds and concrete, and true dives like the Hi-Brow- take your chances!

Yes- pictures that speak. Looking at these tacos you can almost count your bites. Two fish tacos on tiny hand sized tortillas. The white fish is frito into crunchy, golden briquettes, hot from the kitchen. Fish rest in piece on a bed of diced cabbage, cilantro y cebolla. See the cream sauce, served like desert. The cream sauce doesn’t drip. It percolates into the crunchy cabbage slaw and unites the taco. Lemon and Tapatio decorate the flavor and bring out the tang taste of this mysterious special sauce. I count three bites to devour one fish taco.

Collection of model cars- which actually move like a train in procession.

Sit here! Solo booths for two.
Formerly-El Taco Nazo takes us to Señor Baja’s crash pad in Baja. Check out the greetings from the 5 1600 Bug Racer- 3rd place finisher of the epic Baja 1000. Si, GRACIAS AL TACONAZO.

I grew up around the corner from El Taco Nazo or Senor Baja. Now I’m living in virginia where there is NO good Mexican food in sight, but everytime I go home I HAVE to come here for fish tacos. They also have a pretty good taco tuesday!! The tacos are delicious, I usually do ask for ez cream but other than that the food and the staff are great!! This place is definitley worth the visit!!

My husband and I LOVE the fish tacos!!! We moved to the Pacific Northwest and there are no restaurants who makes good fish tacos here. We’ve tried everywhere. When we go for a visit back to California, our first stop will be Senor Baja (formaly El Taco Nazo). PLEASE put a restaurant in Port Orchard, Washington. I think we’ll ask for less sauce too. That looks like quite a bit. By the way, how is the white sauce made???
