A bright and sunny mid-morning at Mariachi Plaza in Boyle Heights last week was the secne of a traveling photo booth made famous by famed Parisian street artist JR. The tricked out truck takes self-portraits of Angeleños to wheat paste in public spaces and spread street art worldwide. Los Angeles was the fourth stop on the West Coast tour of the Inside Out 11M project, a nationwide participatory art initiative aimed at creating a portrait of America that includes immigrants and the descendants of immigrants alike. Participating in the installation signals support for common sense immigration reform that benefits all. The tour ranged throughout the city on a four day journey with stops in Lincoln Heights, Venice, Pan Pacific Park, South Los Angeles and Westlake.
