Recap: Living In The Barrio ~ San Pedro

11:11 AM PDT on October 11, 2016

Last week, Art Compound in San Pedro held a photography exhibit titled "Living in the Barrio". The show is a contemporary look at life in working class communities where the daily existence is not Hollywood's version of reality. The photos on the wall examine subcultures that you may see in your Instagram feed, a mix of gang, graffiti, car culture and neighborhood stories all captured by "generation share".

You can see the enjoyment by the show's patrons that they've "liked" in printed form and in person. It really is a vastly different experience than looking a pixels and swiping and tapping. The South Bay is heating up in the art world, so be on the lookout for more shows from this gallery collective. The first show was a good sign of things to come.
