Catalyst Network of Communities presents its first Repair & Share Fair, offering free neighborly repair, free tacos, and free workshops on Saturday, September 17, 2016. These events will take place quarterly in four Whittier neighborhoods.
At the Repair & Share Fairs, handy neighbors volunteer to fix clothing, toys, appliances, small furniture, bikes, and more. The inaugural Fair also features a special shopping day at the on-site Whittier Free Store, where everything is 100% off; a creative reuse art workshop with guest artist Luke Haynes; a civil discourse workshop titled “How to To Talk to People Without Getting Angry”; 3D printer demonstrations for appliance repair; and, free tacos.
Tacos are provided by Colonia Tacos Guisados. Located on busy Whittier Boulevard, Colonia Tacos Guisados offers home-style braises and stews on handmade corn tortillas. Slow cooked meats, fresh ceviche, and agua frescas complement this daily menu. Colonia restaurateur Ricardo Diaz is Whittier’s only Jonathan Gold-reviewed chef.
