The L.A. Taco Horoscope for August, 2019

Mercury. Image via NASA.

Slide into summer’s slipstream, Angels.

Mercury leaves Retrograde just in time for late summer travel plans. Journey without inconvenience. Stay cool by day and play hard by night when lovely Venus kicks into high gear, blasting our city with her love vibrations. That pretty planet forms a triple alignment with the Earth and Sun on the 13th, during the Persied Meteor Shower. (Shooting stars present better in a dark sky, so fans of the Persieds may be disappointed this year by ample moonlight.) The August Full Moon, aka the Sturgeon Moon, is associated with feasting and plenty (August 15th). Belly-up to life’s table with good friends.  And a New Moon on the 30th — this one is also a Supermoon — nurtures new projects just in time for September.

Aries (March 21 – April 20)

If August is best spent hungover on a beach towel, Ram didn’t get the memo. Aries is career-oriented and energetic this August, even more so than usual. Prepare to work your tail off. The Persied Meteor Shower radiates through your constellation between the 11th and 13th, destroying late summer laziness. Prepare to manifest professional goals.  On the 13th, Venus forms a triple planetary alignment with the Sun and Earth, activating your House of Work. Be bold. Courage is rewarded. On the 15th a Full Moon, known as a Sturgeon Moon, has you reflecting on career and status. Leadership looks good on you. End the month with more Workplace love when the New Moon lands in that house on the 30th. This is the closest New Supermoon of the year, and new projects get major celestial support.

Taurus (April 21 – May 21)

Your famous heart swells with love this August, Bull, largely because of your ruling planet Venus.  On the 8th, that pretty planet aligns with the Sun in your Home and Family Sector. The good vibes will be GREAT vibes, but know that this position brings a risk of possessiveness.  Can you count your blessings without clinging to them? Mid-month the Persied Meteor Shower revitalizes Taurus (best viewing after midnight August 11th –13th). You love to work, and this meteor shower supports that tendency. Also on the 13th, Venus and the Sun align with earth, forming a triple alignment in your House of Love. That love may be for family, or it may be romantic.  When the Sturgeon Moon lands in your House of Religion on the 15th, all that gratitude you are feeling may have you reevaluate spiritual beliefs.  And on the 30th a New Moon in Cancer – it is also a Supermoon – supports new beginnings at home. August serves up a big-time heart opener. Maximize the gratitude any way you can.

Gemini (May 22 – June 21)

To paraphrase Oscar Wilde, “Be yourself Gemini, everyone else is already taken.” This month the Persied Meteor Shower energizes your House of Subconscious, allowing deeper values to surface.  Life is about course correction, and you are happiest when you are most tightly aligned with your higher self. (The shooting stars reach a maximum between August 11thand 13th.  Don’t forget to look!) Feel the love at home on the 13th, when Venus aligns with the Sun and Moon in a triple alignment supporting your Home and Family Sector. And on August 15th, The Sturgeon Moon shines in your House of Transformation. Reflect on how you have changed. For better and for worse, you are not the same person you were a year ago. August closes out with one final reminder to focus on Home and Family. The New Moon lands in that sector on the 30th, fostering new beginnings.

Cancer (June 22 – July 22)

Feeling itchy, Crab? You may have outgrown your old shell. August opens with a New Moon in Cancer, opening up a new chapter for you.  On August 8th Venus aligns with the Sun in Cancer. This position suggests that your self-worth is locked up in a relationship. Jailbreak your self-esteem and self-validate! Cheer up on the 9th when your ruling Moon aligns with lucky Jupiter in your Career House. You deserve a break, professionally speaking. Enjoy good news about a job prospect. Avoid overthinking on the 12th, when your Moon aligns with bummer Saturn in your Marriage House. A knotty situation will remain overwhelming as long as you try to make sense of it. August ends with a New Moon in your Income House. This Moon is associated with harvest, and you will finally see some money.

Leo (July 23 – August 22)

Status and friendship are everything thing to a Leo, and a blast of supporting energy, courtesy the Persied Meteor Shower, supports both (August 11th – 13th). On the same night, Leo hosts a triple planetary alignment (Venus, Earth and Sun) that has you roaring for joy. The lineup points to courage and affection. Both qualities are your strong suits. On the 15th, the Full Sturgeon Moon brightens your Marriage House. The way you act in a relationship, any relationship, shows who you truly are. Take responsibility for sloppy actions.  A New Moon in Leo August 30th, aligns inner and outer values, informing new goals. This new moon is warm and loving, giving you a positive start to September.

Virgo (August 23 – September 22)

Happy Birthday, Virgo! Ready to kick things up a notch? August brings transformation to the Virgin. The Persied Meteor Shower peaks mid-month, facilitating inner growth (August 11 – 13th). Also, on the 13th, Venus aligns with the Sun and Earth, activating your Karma House. You are ripening into the person you were born to be. Health also expands and you will be grateful for the physical body on the 15th, when the Full Sturgeon Moon reminds you to eat well and stress less. Small changes make a big difference in your general well-being. August closes with a New Moon in your Karma House (August 30th). Like a summer dahlia that never stops opening, you are a limitless source of beauty.

Libra (September 23 – October 22)

Your ruling Venus is a diva this month. On the 8th, she aligns with the sun in your Community House. Libras are dynamic by nature, and you will throw yourself into a changing role. Take heart. Courage is the only way to get through this opera. The Persied Meteor Shower steals the show mid-month, energizing your House of Transformation. (It peaks August 11th – 13th.) On the 13th, Venus aligns with the Sun and Earth, illuminating your House of Subconscious.  Find clarity about your goals.  On the 15th, reflect on professional concerns when the Sturgeon Moon lands in your Career House.  The Moon supports leaders. August closes with a New Moon in your Community House. New Moons bring new energy, not a bad way to move into September.

Scorpio (October 23 – November 21)

You are a popular arachnid this month, Scorpion. Use that charm to advance your career. Mid-month the Persied Meteor Shower adds sparkle to your Partnership House. It peaks August 11 – 13th, and you will feel form and cement allegiances. Friends, colleagues, even former hookups all hold you in high regard, especially on the 13th, when loving Venus lines up with the Earth and Sun in a planetary triple play. This motion energizes your Community Sector and it is a great time to network.  The Sturgeon Moon in your Creativity House (August 15th) showcases your bright mind for others to appreciate. Sparkle.  (Just don’t get too full of yourself; this moon is associated with narcissism.)  The New Moon on the 30th is the closest one of the year. It supports new endeavors in your Career House.

Sagittarius (November 22 – December 21)

The Archer is the sum of his actions this August. Your ruling Jupiter locks lips with the Moon August 9th, activating your Karma House. Enjoy the fruits (and spit out the pits) of past decisions. When the Moon and Saturn align in your constellation on the 12th, watch out for guilt trips. Saturn makes us overthink situations, and thinking is overrated. Commit to charitable thoughts as a solid defense.  Meanwhile the Persied Meteor Shower peaks August 11 - 13th, radiating from your House of Health.   Bad vibes don’t stand a chance. Whatever you call it - prana, chi or vitality – it is good stuff. On the 15th, the Sturgeon Moon lands in your Income House. Responsibility pays off. Reflect on some positive changes you have made in your home budgeting.  Leave town unexpectedly at the close of August. Fun beckons when the New Moon lands in your Travel House on the 30th. The Retrograde is over, and you are in for a smooth trip.

Capricorn (December 22 – January 20)

Don’t be so hard on yourself, Sea-Goat. Your ruling Saturn aligns with the Moon in your House of Subconscious on the 12th, making you self-critical. Let that shit go. Charity begins at home. Lighten up with the Persied Meteor Shower (August 11th – 13th).  A fullish moon dampers the amount of shooting stars you can see, but the energy is there and it invigorates your House of work. Capricorns generally excel professionally, but you can kick it up a notch. Be industrious! Also on the 13th, a triple alignment (Venus, Sun and Earth) unlocks Capricorn’s House of Sexuality. Leave your inhibitions at the door.  Generosity in bed make you nicer out of it. Capricorn hosts the Sturgeon moon August 15th. This Moon signifies leadership. Money tight at home? Joint Income benefits from the New Moon on the 30th. Being all business, all the time, pays off.

Aquarius (January 21 – February 19)

Aquarian hands are never idle. The Water Bearer is a maker by nature, especially when the Persied Meteor Shower activates your Creativity House this August.  Manifest those goals, you wacky spaz! The same night a triple planetary alignment (Venus- Sun- Earth) zaps you with love’s big vibrations. Suppress feelings of insecurity; they are bullshit. The full Moon shines in your Subconscious House, revealing deeper values and desires (August 15th). Connecting with your higher self is even bigger than emotional intelligence. Be grateful for insight.  Close August with a (Super) New Moon in your house of Marriage. The New Moon won’t be this close again in 2019, and you will feel its nurturing energy in a story that keeps getting sweeter (August 30th).

Pisces (February 19 – March 20)

Money and Communication have a thing going on this August, Pisces. They support each other, especially mid-month when the Persieds add energize you Income House. The shooting stars peak mid-month, but are unfortunately hampered by moonlight.  On the 13th, a triple alignment between Venus, the Sun and Earth brings good vibes to your Marriage House. Enjoy the love at home. The August Full Moon is called a Sturgeon Moon, and Pisces will appreciate the fishy branding. (August 15th). This moon is associated with feasts and celebration. It treats you like a VIP, so don’t be surprised by the Caviar Taco. This Moon activates your Friendship House, where your true wealth lies. Feel genuine appreciation for good friends. August closes with a kick in the pants, again in your Marriage House. It is a Supermoon (that means super-close) and you will feel the love from your Sweetie.

Ophiuchus (November 29 – December 17)

Put down that snake and pick up a Margarita, Ophiuchus. August turns you into Captain Good Vibes, especially when the Moon and Jupiter align. This pairing supports a happy heart (August 9th). The Persieds peak mid-month (August 11th -13th) brightening your House of Marriage. If you share your heart and mind with another, it just keeps getting deeper. Love is bottomless on the 13th, when Venus, planet of L-O-V-E, forms a triple alignment with the Earth and Sun in what astronomers call a superior conjunction. The Sturgeon Moon lands in your House of Home and Family on the 15th. Celebrate with good food, as this moon is associated with bounty. And on the 30th, the New Moon changes your focus from summer lovin’ to career, setting a tone for September.
