World Premiere: Tune of the Day ~ God.Damn.Chan “Groovybby”

4:23 PM PST on February 20, 2018

Today’s Tune of the Day you can only here right here on L.A. TACO and it comes to us from God.Damn.Chan, new Los Angeles resident and signee to the venerable Alpha Pup label. A versatile beat maker with the grooves of a Kaytranada and the low end theories of a DJ Nobody, God.Damn.Chan AKA Channing Day was previously based in Portland, Maine until recently. His life changed when he sent some beats to the aforementioned Nobody, who invited him to the Low End Theory Beat Invitational, and played Low End Theory shortly thereafter. Flash forward to February, 2017, and we have a record called “Slush”.

“It’s kind of a coming-of-age record,” explains God.Damn.Chan, “It represents a change.” In November 2017, he packed up and moved to California, driving to Los Angeles from his hometown of Portland, Maine with his girlfriend and his dog. Day’s new album Slush references the frozen home he left behind. “I moved from a place that’s really cold to a place that’s never cold. Calling it Slush is tongue-in-cheek a little bit, especially because I got out of Maine right before the winter.”

The album is full of diverse beat styles, including the jazz-groove of "Groovybby", which we at L.A. TACO are proud to premiere for you today. Stream it above, and get more info about the album, including pre-order here.
